The Royal Oak has a bar serving traditional Cask Ales, premium Lagers, Cider, Draught Guinness and Theakstons Mild. Also stocking a range of Red, White and Rose wines, along with a top shelf of Spirits, Liquers and Malt Whiskys. The Royal Oak also offers a good selection of soft drinks, including Tea, Coffee and a variety of Herbal & Fruit Teas.

The Lake District is renowned for its many Breweries & Micro-Breweries brewing a wide range of different Cask Ales, The Royal Oak regularly features many of these Local Ales, such as; Coniston Bluebird. Coniston Bluebird is brewed in the nearby town of Coniston, and named after the past water speed record holder Donald Campbell’s Bluebird K7. Bluebird Bitter is a pale Ale at 3.6% ABV, having a orange fruit aroma and a biscuity malt. It is a very popular Ale in the Lake District. Another popular Ale enjoyed in the area, which is featured regularly at The Royal Oak, is Hawkshead Red, this amber 4.2% ABV Ale, is brewed in nearby Staverley. Other Local Ales will be stocked regularly.

In recent years there has been a boom in locally produced spirits within the Lake District. The Royal Oak stocks several local spirits, including Bed Rock Gin and Standing Stones Vodka. These are made using spring water found naturally within the Lake District, and are distilled near Keswick. We also stock a local Damson and Sloe Gin, both made within the nearby area. For the Whisky lover we stock two local whisky’s, one a British Blended Whisky and the other created just outside of Penrith is a delicious, smooth Single Malt by Tirril Brewery. For those with a sweeter tooth we are also stockists of Kin Toffee Vodka, a locally made Liquer (within 10miles of our front door). The Royal Oak is always expanding it’s locally sourced Drinks produce so keep your eye on the Bar for new arrivals.

The Royal Oak hosts Free WIFI, Children are welcome, we’re Dog friendly and don’t the odd muddy boot.
